Call To Action -- Our Wish List

This post is directed at my Bell Arts Factory colleagues, but anyone who stumbles upon is it welcome to participate.

I want to know what you want, what we need, our Bell Arts Factory wish list.

This past Monday night we had a productive meeting of the Factory Arts Alliance. Improved signage and lighting at the front of the building was wished. Joanne and I talked yesterday, and a sign in the hallway saying "Restroom --->" was wished. I wish for a canopy over the entrance from the parking lot so water does not come under the door when it rains.

So you get the idea. What would make the place better?

My examples above are in the physical realm. Wishes for more open hours, marketing to bring collectors, education programming crafted to the needs of Factory artists -- not just physical wishes count too.

I encourage you to comment and exchange thoughts here. I would like for this blog site to become a community space where we can make what we are doing better - more satisfying and delicious.

Thank you!!

  1. Josh, Joanne and Cindy attended a presentation I gave on Thursday evening as part of the ArtsLive initiative of the Ventura County Community Foundation. The topic was Building Communities Through the Arts.

Many people spoke about how artists changed people's lives. There was a story in today's Star about the session.

Josh's blog post made me think that one of the purposes of this blog might be to collect stories of how a Bell Arts Factory artist changed someone's life. The story could be posted by that person, by the artist, or by a friend or relative.

If you think this is a good idea, let me know and we can create a common format into which all can conribute.

  2. The Bell Arts Factory has done so much in such a little space of time. I wish to see the Factory evolve into a more music friendly venue, especially for acoustic music performances (electric music may be too big of a challenge.) I also wish to see more teen/young adult programs. We do well with kid's art and adult art studios, but we're missing the young people. Moses

  3. Thank you for this opportunity to make a suggestion Josh! I have been working with great enthusiasm on my upcoming show at Bells Art Tool Room Gallery as well as at Vita Art Center. It is my wish that there will be some extremely visable signage to convey the location of the Gallery for the visitors. I know that our holiday show was confusing for visitors to find in the Tool Room Gallery and I am looking forward to the clarity of signs for these events please. Thank you for making Bell Arts the wonderful and organized place that it is Josh!! Jill Sattler
